Each of our staff members have completed training certified by Montessori AMI or Aide à la Vie and partake regularly in complementary Montessori trainings and seminars.

Valérie Armand Valérie Armand, the founder and director of the school, is a psychologist. She transmits her passion and integrity through her management of the school while motivating each member of our staff to give their best. The result of her dedication is an ambiance characterised by harmony and mutual trust. As an experienced child psychologist, Valérie welcomes parents to discuss concerns regarding their children. |

Didier Herbin Didier Herbin is a Montessori educator with an AMI diploma and license in philosophy. He has worked with the 3/6 years class at Jardin des Soleils since 2005. His unconditional confidence in children as well as his patience and consistancy make Didier a pillar of security for the children. |

Sandra Cornillault Sandra Cornillault is a Montessori educator in the 2/3 years class. She also accompanies the 3/6 years class as an educator two afternoons per week. Prior to receiving her Montessori training, Sandra worked as an engineer. Sandra's profound respect for children, her professionalism, her calm demeanor and listening skills make her a true asset to our school. |

Charlotte Christoff Charlotte Christoff is an EMT (English mother tongue) Montessori educator. She is also an experienced teacher. Charlotte contributes to the warm ambiance of our school with her dynamic personality and enthusiasm. The children appreciate her firm yet kind presence, her sense of order and her captivating rythem and blues songs. |

Irene Boudier Irene Boudier is a Montessori educatrice who is American of Japanese descent. She works with the children in the 3/6 class by speaking with them in English.
Prior to joining us, Irene worked in management training for
an international corporation. Her patience, calm and generosity, as well as her multiculturalism enables Irene to interact with the children in English in a fun and natural way. |

Le rôle de l'éducateur

non pas avec l’intention de l’éduquer

L'éducateur est formé à la psychologie de l'enfant dont il connaît les périodes sensibles dans les
différentes phases de son développement.
Il guide l'enfant et lui fait confiance. Il est, avant tout, un observateur très attentif aux besoins et intérêts
individuels de chaque enfant dont il suit scrupuleusement la progression. Il est entraîné à reconnaître
les périodes d'empressement afin de proposer à l'enfant le matériel en phase avec les étapes de
son développement intérieur.
L'éducateur effectue des démonstrations individuelles de l'utilisation du matériel. Elles sont effectuées
très minutieusement afin d'être exemplaires et de capter toute l'attention de l'enfant qui n'aura de cesse
de reproduire l'expérience qu'il aura ainsi absorbée en profondeur.
Quelquefois l'éducateur doit détourner un enfant qui choisit un matériel dépassant ses capacités;
d'autres fois, il doit encourager un enfant hésitant. Il veille à ce que les règles de base
indispensables soient respectées : remise en ordre du matériel, respect de l'autre et de son travail,
respect du matériel. L'enfant doit prendre dès le départ de bonnes habitudes de travail.
L'action de l'éducateur est discrète et peu interventionniste : il laisse le temps à l'enfant de se
rendre compte de ses propres erreurs et de les corriger lui-même.
