Our Classes
2/3 ClassJardin des Soleils welcomes children from 2 to 3 years old. Two Montessori educators accompany
the development of the children in a warm and secure environment which accommodates the individual
needs and interests of the children.
To encourage the autonomy of each child, the classroom ambiance is such that sinks, bathrooms,
shelves, as well as classroom materials are all adapted to the size of the children.
The Montessori activities help stimulate the development of the senses, language, coordination,
fine motor skills, etc. and at the same time aid the child to gain self-confidence.
Music, arts and crafts are also a regular part of our class.
3/6 Class
The 3 to 6 years old class welcomes 12 to 15 children per educator.
In this class, the child finds a Montessori environment where the materials are attractive and adapted to the child’s evolution. Learning activities are personalised to each child. Thereafter, the child is allowed to repeat the activity as often and for as long as he wishes to. Through observation, the educator will identify what new activity to present to the child and at what moment.
This is a spacious classroom and everything is organised so that the child can attain his personal objectives. By engaging in activities, a child often gets to reveal qualities such as, intense concentration, precision in movements, a notion of order, willingness to make a sustained effort, self-discipline, respect for others, kindness and a real pleasure for working.
The benefits of a mixed-age class are evident in instances when the children help one another; they stimulate interest in new activities, show mutual respect and take pleasure in their interaction. The younger children see what the older children are doing and imitate them, whereas the older children develop a sense of responsibility toward the younger. Moreover, children of different capacity and pace interact and help each other.
